On Monday, December 12, 2011 Drape Kings was honored to participate in the sixth annual Charity: Water, Charity: Ball. Charity: Water is a nonprofit organization based in New York City where 100% of donations go directly to funding water projects in developing countries. Hostess Jessica Biel and special guest auctioneer Tyler Perry presided over an evening attended by over 2,200 people raising an unprecedented $2.6 million for projects in Sierra Leone, Tanzania & Cambodia.
This record breaking event was held in the Drill Hall of the historic 69th Regiment Armory. Attendees entered the arena via 600 feet of Drape Kings red carpet to full view of a custom created 360 degree draped projection room showing a dynamic introduction to the Charity:Water Campaign. Through our elegantly swagged grey velour, attendees progressed into an epic party space of 140 ft by 200 ft created through the use of hundreds of feet of Drape Kings sturdy, opaque black velour drape. Attendees monitored the auction’s progress on a custom made 25 ft high by 60 ft wide bleached white muslin screen created by Drape Kings for this one night only event. The Armory also saw the creation of two VIP areas through the use of 2,400 ft of Drape Kings’ black carpet that played host to actresses Sophia Bush and Jessica Lowndes as well as designers Erin Fetherston and Nanette Lepore.
In less than four hours this larger-than-life event improved the quality of life for more than 100,000 individuals who, without the Charity: Water, Charity: Ball, would face the continuous daily struggle to obtain safe water for themselves, their families, and their communities. Drape Kings is proud to have been a part of such a worthy and life changing event for the global community.

On Monday, November 21st Drape Kings collaborated with the greater Washington DC chapter of ISES International to sponsor their 2011 Expo. This expo, held at the Marriott Wardman Park, brought together event professionals from throughout the Washington DC area as well as the country to share ideas and products while in a cheerful and creative setting. Drape Kings was delighted to take this opportunity to create over fifty display booths using our vibrant Fresh Cut Green, Gold, Purple, and Red Supervel’s along with our White Sheer.
As sponsors of the event, Drape Kings presented our own spectacular booth showcasing our Star Drape, Delano Sheers, Rope & Stanchions and our very popular “one touch” Kabuki Drop system*; Available for both rental and sale.

The King Goes to Washington
On Thursday, November 10th Drape Kings helped kick off the holiday season with the World Famous Radio City Rockettes at Henri Bendel’s unveiling of their 2011 Holiday window. As the first major retailer to reveal their display, they brought down the house, or I should say the elegant cascade of rental Red Supervel, onto the streets of Fifth Avenue via our Kabuki Drop. Their window, containing holiday scenes in a doll house setting, features a towering Lady Liberty wearing a robe made entirely out of jelly beans. This elegant display now greets customers as they enter the always bustling New York store. The window is a not-to-be-missed part of the 2011 New York City Holiday experience and all of us at Drape Kings were honored to be a part of it. Madonna, Smirnoff Vodka and Drape Kings transformed the legendary Roseland Ballroom into the dance party of the year for the Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project. Our rental Red Supervel drapes created a dramatic backdrop for the Material Girl to make her entrance through the stage into the dance party. This event was the high point of an international search for the “Best Dancer” to officially join her dance crew. The dueling stages, passageways, cocktail areas and VIP dance floor were adorned top to bottom with almost a thousand feet of White Velour and Red Supervel drape.
Only the best for Madonna, the Pop Legend’s dressing room was decked out entirely in our luxurious White Velour. The culmination of the evening saw Madonna name Lil Buck the “Best Dancer” and the “Lucky Buck” joined her on the VIP dance floor which was covered entirely by our Red Supervel.

On Tuesday, November 1, 2011, in a lavish event attended by both European and Hollywood Royalty, Drape Kings was honored to be a part of the New York City unveiling of the collaboration between the Princess Grace Awards and Montblanc. The event introduced the “Collection Princesse Grace de Monaco” to New York’s artistic and philanthropic elite. Drape Kings provided a stunning reveal using an elevated, draped truss highlighting our custom designed Shimmery Grey Velour. Also in attendance were HSH Prince Albert II and HSH Princess Charlene, in her first US appearance, and Hollywood star Anne Hathaway. Drape Kings was honored to step in at the last minute to design and execute the custom display that its competition feared to take on.
The legendary Princess Grace Award honors emerging talent in theatre, dance and film through grants in scholarships, apprenticeships and fellowships. Also honored with the “Prince Rainier III Award” was Broadway legend and star of Mary Poppins, The Sound of Music and Victor/Victoria, Julie Andrews. This award is presented annually to successful artists who have made a significant contribution to humanitarian causes in their respective fields. Past recipients of this award included Mikhail Baryshnikov (2005), Twyla Tharp (2006), George Lucas (2007), Glenn Close (2008), Mandy Patinkin (2009) and Denzel & Pauletta Washington (2010).

On Friday, October 14th, Drape Kings was excited to participate in the grand unveiling of Steven Tyler in the Macy’s Herald Square Window. The event, featuring a Drape Kings Kabuki drop rental, debuted the Aerosmith front man as the face of the Andrew Charles Rock ‘n’ Roll clothing line for men and women.
The crowd, expecting perfection and a great show, was delivered nothing but the best when Drape Kings’ dramatic display kicked off what we are sure to be a hugely popular clothing line by Mr. Charles!
