Canon Expo at the Jacob Javits Center

At Canon Expo this year, we provided not feet, not yards, but over a mile of drape. Working with MC², we blanketed New York’s Jacob Javits Center for this year’s Canon Expo (expo.usa.canon.com), a once-every-five-year exhibition that rotates across many international locations. The last Canon Expo held in New York City occurred in 2005.

MC², specializing in booth design and event production, contracted with Drape Kings for this massive project. The Javits Convention Center’s Halls 3A-B consists of no less than 274,000 sq. ft of space with combined rooms that are 456′ x 645′ in size and windows alone at that are over 30’ high. Within those parameters, Drape Kings will provide a range of drape beginning at 5’ high and exceeding over 40’ in height. The drape extends to the ceiling structure of the Javits’ vast event space controlling and masking light, which is essential to exhibiting imaging equipment.

In the days leading up to the Expo, Drape Kings and Javits’ decorators hung several thousand feet of their 22 oz. heavyweight black velour: a true blackout drape. Add in some traditional trade show banjo and a selection of white velour, and Drape Kings is providing more than a mile of drape to Javits’ for this amazing event.

The Robin Hood Foundation’s Annual Benefit, which took place at the Jacob Javits Center on May 10th, featured performances by Stevie Wonder and Sting, all to provide for programming to help the homeless in New York City.

Drape Kings has been providing drape for this event for several years now and will continue to do so in the future, as this stunning, well-produced event amazes those in attendance, as well as helps those less fortunate.
